Lea Vaisalo has been named as chief investment officer of Velliv, Ballerup, Denmark, according to a news release.
Velliv had assets of 276 billion Danish krone ($41 billion) as of Dec. 31, 2023.
Vaisalo is expected to start on May 1 and will relocate from Helsinki to Denmark for the position.
She will replace Anders Stensbol Christiansen, who stepped down as chief investment officer of Velliv in November after seven years in the position.
The appointment follows a decision made by Velliv in February to close its alternatives and active equities divisions as part of a major shift in investment strategy.
“Lea brings with her international management experience, a high level of professionalism and in-depth knowledge of the entire investment universe as well as a strong customer focus. We have therefore found just the right profile to meet the objectives of Velliv’s new investment strategy,” said Velliv CEO Kim Kehlet Johansen in the news release.
Vaisalo joins from Nordea Asset Management, where she had been head of private markets since 2019. Nordea did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding a replacement.
