Sampsa Ratia was named director of real estate investments at Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Co., Helsinki, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Ratia, whose appointment is effective Aug. 16, will replace Ilkka Tomperi, who is joining Finnish construction company YIT.
"Sampsa has very diverse experience in the real estate sector and a strong track record of successful business management. He will also provide Varma with important transaction expertise," Reima Rytsola, deputy CEO of Varma, said Monday in a news release.
The €52.9 billion ($62.8 billion) Varma has 10% of its assets in real estate investments.
Mr. Ratia worked as managing director and partner at real estate asset management company Avant Asset Management. A spokesman could not be reached to provide details of his replacement.
