United Airlines Holdings Inc., Chicago, expects to contribute at least $314 million to its pension plans in 2020, the company disclosed in its 10-K filing Tuesday with the SEC.
The airline contributed $649 million to the pension plans in 2019, above the originally announced $318 million it had expected in its prior 10-K filing.
As of Dec. 31, pension plan assets totaled $4.964 billion, while projected benefit obligations totaled $6.398 billion, for a funding ratio of 77.6%, up from 70.9% a year earlier.
The discount rate for the pension plans as of Dec. 31 fell to 3.52% from 4.2% a year earlier.
As of Dec. 31, the actual allocation for the pension plans was 39.4% equities; 34.9% fixed income; 15.6% alternatives; and 10.1% other investments.
