Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed an additional $15 million to venture capital fund Shine Capital I, spokesman Russ Rhea confirmed in an email.
The new commitment is from the $38.1 billion pension fund's $7.8 billion private equity/venture capital portfolio.
The retirement system's investment officers made an initial commitment of $23 million to the fund in September 2020.
Shine Capital's portfolio managers seek venture capital investment opportunities in North America.
With the additional commitment to Shine Capital I, as of May 28, TCDRS has committed a total of $790 million to 14 private equity/venture capital funds run by 10 money managers, according to the pension fund's 2021 transaction report.
In all of 2020, TCDRS committed a total of $2 billion to 32 private equity/venture capital funds from 25 firms, the retirement system's 2020 transaction report showed.
