Sai Devabhaktuni joined the private equity team of Canadian pension fund British Columbia Investment Management Corp., Victoria, as a senior managing director leading the technology, media, and telecommunications sector team.
A spokesperson for BCI confirmed that this is a newly created position and that Devabhaktuni will serve as the head of the private equity TMT sector team.
In his role, the New York-based Devabhaktuni’s team will focus on “identifying and executing high-value opportunities across both private and public markets,” according to an emailed statement from BCI.
Devabhaktuni most recently served as a founder and managing member of Monocle Group, an investment entity focused on TMT and aerospace opportunities. Monocle could not be immediately reached for further details.
Earlier this month, BCI established a London-based
European hub for its private equity group, appointing a senior team in the city.
BCI private equity’s team manages a C$31 billion ($21.8 billion) global portfolio.
BCI had C$250.4 billion in assets as of March 31.
