Geraldine Leegwater was named CIO at PGGM, the in-house manager of Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn, Zeist, Netherlands, effective Nov. 1, a spokesman said.
Ms. Leegwater will replace Eloy Lindeijer, who is leaving PGGM on Oct.1.
Ms. Leegwater will lead the investment management business unit at PGGM. Mr. Lindeijer resigned in March to pursue opportunities in responsible investing.
PGGM, which manages €246 billion ($276.7 billion) in assets as of June 30, runs the assets of PFZW, which had €238 billion ($266.6 billion) as of Dec. 31, 2019.
"Geraldine will bring a combination of extensive management experience in the pension sector and a great deal of investment expertise. That is very welcome in a period of massive changes, both in pensions and in the world outside," Edwin Velzel, CEO of PGGM, said in a news release.
Ms. Leegwater is a trustee of the €462 billion Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP, Heerlen, Netherlands, and chairwoman of its investment committee, as well as an investment committee member of Dutch central bank De Nederlandsche Bank. She will resign these positions when she joins PGGM.
