Phil Butler has been named as deputy CIO of U.K. master trust People’s Partnership, provider of The People's Pension, Crawley, England, according to a news release.
Starting Dec. 2, Butler will be overseeing the investment operations and responsible investing teams in a newly created role at People’s Partnership at its London office, which opened at the start of the year.
The People’s Pension manages £31 billion ($39 billion) in assets as of Nov. 30, and is projected to reach £50 billion in the next four years. Earlier this year the plan’s trustee board signaled its readiness to invest in private markets, due to the fund's growing scale and expertise.
“Phil’s appointment underlines our commitment to building foundations for The People’s Pension becoming a world class asset owner,” said Dan Mikulskis, CIO at People’s Partnership.
“He will play a key role in helping People’s Partnership grow our team’s investment capabilities as we continue to make our increased scale work for members.”
Butler joins from M&G, where he was a multiasset portfolio manager in the treasury and investment office. M&G did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding his replacement.
