David Craik, pension administrator for the $10.4 billion Delaware Public Employees' Retirement System, Dover, will retire effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Craik, who has been at DPERS for 32 years, including 23 years as pension administrator, first announced his retirement in June. "During my time with DPERS I am amazed at the relationships that are built with all that are involved with DPERS," he said in a statement. "From the board and committee members that are dedicated to DPERS, the other departments that assist DPERS in their tasks, and all of the staff of the pension office, it is truly a team effort to ensure the pension system remains solid for our members into the future."
The board of pension trustees, with help from executive search firm EFL Associates, began its search for Mr. Craik's replacement with a solicitation in August. The board will begin conducting interviews this month, according to Bert Scoglietti, director of policy and external affairs for the state's office of management and budget. It intends to fill the position by the end of the year and is still accepting applications on a "rolling basis," Mr. Scoglietti added in an email.
