Terrill "Terri" Sanchez was named interim executive director of the $72.5 billion Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, said Evelyn Williams, spokeswoman for the Harrisburg-based plan.
Ms. Sanchez replaces Glen R. Grell, who transitioned to a senior adviser role on Jan. 1 and will retire on Feb. 28.
Ms. Sanchez retired as executive director of the $39 billion Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, on Dec. 31. She was succeeded there by Joseph A. Torta, previously that system's deputy executive director and director of member and participant services.
Before serving as PennSERS' executive director, Ms. Sanchez was deputy executive director at PennPSERS.
She will serve in this interim role as a 95-day emergency return-to-service annuitant while the system searches for a permanent replacement for Mr. Grell.
In November, PennPSERS' board voted to accept the retirements of Mr. Grell and Chief Investment Officer James H. Grossman Jr. following a federal investigation of the system over an error in its reported investment figures that was discovered by the board.
Mr. Grossman, who will retire on May 1, transitioned to his own senior adviser role on Dec. 9. That same day, Robert Devine, the system's fixed-income managing director, was named acting CIO. A search for a permanent CIO is in progress.
