Anna Murray was appointed senior managing director and global head of sustainable investing at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Toronto, effective Monday.
It is a new position, a spokeswoman confirmed in an email.
Working within the total fund management team, part of OTPP's investment division, Ms. Murray will "execute on the fund's ambitious climate strategy and net-zero targets, advance its approach to impact investing and oversee corporate governance activities, including proxy voting and public company engagements," according to a news release Tuesday.
She will also oversee the "continued integration and assessment of environmental, social and governance opportunities and risks in the investment process," the news release added.
In September 2021, OTPP said it planned to reduce its portfolio carbon emissions intensity by 45% by 2025 and by 67% by 2030, compared with its 2019 baseline.
Ms. Murray was global head of ESG for asset manager Sun Life Capital Management. Sun Life could not be immediately reached for further details.
OTPP had net assets of C$242.5 billion ($188.3 billion) as of June 30.
