Romeo Leemrijse was appointed executive managing director-equities at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Toronto, effective Jan. 1.
Dan Madge, a spokesman for OTPP, said by email that he succeeds Karen Frank, who left OTPP earlier this month.
Mr. Leemrijse, who will be based in Toronto and report to Ziad Hindo, chief investment officer, will lead the equities department, which includes private and public equities, according to a Wednesday release.
Mr. Leemrijse first joined OTPP in 2006 and most recently served as senior managing director and global group sector head-private capital.
Mr. Madge added that "no decision" has been made yet on who will succeed him in this role.
OTPP had net assets of C$242.5 billion ($188.3 billion) as of June 30.
