Kathryn Fric was named chief risk officer of the C$227.7 billion ($180 billion) Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Toronto.
Ms. Fric will start Nov. 1, spokesman Dan Madge said. She will replace Barbara Zvan, who left to become the inaugural president and CEO of the C$10.5 billion University Pension Plan, Toronto, a multiemployer defined benefit plan for Ontario universities.
Ms. Fric will report to Jo Taylor, OTPP's president and CEO, and will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight for the pension fund.
Ms. Fric was previously senior vice president, enterprise and operational risk, at Sun Life Financial.
