Michael Hill was appointed executive vice president and global head of infrastructure at Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, Toronto, effective September 5.
Mr. Hill will be based in New York and will report to Ralph Berg, chief investment officer, a Wednesday release said.
Mr. Hill is replacing Annesley Wallace who left OMERS at the end of April, a company spokesman said by email. The OMERS spokesman said Ms. Wallace joined energy infrastructure firm TC Energy.
Mr. Hill will have accountability and oversight for the firm's global infrastructure investment and asset management programs, the release noted.
OMERS Infrastructure, the infrastructure investment advisory and management arm of OMERS, manages about C$34 billion ($25.7 billion) in assets. OMERS had total net assets of C$124.2 billion as of Dec. 31.
Mr. Hill was managing director, head of Americas, sustainable energies and head of New York at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Toronto. A spokesman said by email that they will be making an appointment to the head of Americas for sustainable energies in due course.
CPP had C$570 billion in assets as of March 31.
