Oklahoma Teachers chalks up 8% return for fiscal year

Oklahoma Teachers' Retirement System, Oklahoma City, posted a net return of 8% for the fiscal year ended June 30, according to an investment report prepared by Aon.

The return fell short of the policy benchmark of 12.1%.

On a three-, five- and 10-year basis, Oklahoma Teachers earned an annualized net return of 9.1%, 6.6% and 7.8%, respectively. The benchmark returns for the respective periods were 9%. 7.5% and 8%.

The $20.7 billion pension fund had earned a net return of -9.5% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022.

U.S. equities were the pension fund's top-performing asset class, earning a net return of 15.4%, followed by international equities, with a 11.2% return. Their respective benchmarks were 19% and 13.1%.

As of June 30, the fund's actual allocation was 43.7% U.S. equities, 23.7% fixed income, 15.2% international equities, 8.3% private investments, 7.7% real estate and 1.4% cash. Its target allocation is 38.3% U.S. equities, 22% fixed income, 16.7% international equities, 10% real estate, 8% private investments and 5% private debt.
