Oklahoma Firefighters ladders up 31.8% fiscal-year return

Oklahoma Firefighters Pension & Retirement System, Oklahoma City, posted a net return of 31.8% for the fiscal year ended June 30, according to Troy Brown, executive director at AndCo Consulting, the pension fund's investment consultant.

The one-year return surpassed the policy benchmark of 27.6%, Mr. Brown said in an email.

The $3.7 billion pension also beat policy benchmarks on a three-, five and 10-year basis, earning an annualized net of 13.9%, 13.5% and 10.6%, respectively. The benchmark returns for the respective periods were 12.7%, 12.2% and 10.2%.

The Oklahoma firefighters pension fund returned a net 4% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.

Domestic equity was the fund's top-performing asset class, delivering a net return of 47.3%, followed by other assets, other equity and international equity, which earned 45.3%, 41.9% and 41%, respectively.

As of June 30, the fund's actual allocation was 49.6% domestic equity; 14.2% international equity; 11.6% domestic fixed income; 8.7% real estate; 7.3% global fixed income; 4.5% other fixed income; 3.4% other assets; 0.7% other equity; and 0.1% cash.

The target allocation is 48% domestic equity; 15% international equity; 11% domestic fixed income; 10% real estate; 7% global fixed income; 5% other fixed income; and 4% other assets.
