North Carolina Retirement Systems, Raleigh, returned a net 8.2% for the fiscal year ended June 30, according to a quarterly investment report dated Aug. 9.
The $123 billion pension fund’s return fell below its policy benchmark of 10.5% for the period, according to the report from Dale R. Folwell, state treasurer and sole trustee of NCRS.
For the three, five and 10 years ended June 30, the pension fund returned an annualized net 1.9%, 5.6% and 5.6%, respectively, compared with their respective benchmarks of 1.2%, 6.1% and 5.3%.
NCRS had returned a net 5.3% for the year ended June 30, 2023.
