Christopher Morris and Jeff Smith have been named co-chief investment officers of the $107.3 billion North Carolina Retirement Systems, Raleigh, Deputy Treasurer Frank Lester confirmed Thursday in an email.
Previously, Mr. Morris served as interim co-CIO, chief risk and operating officer, while Mr. Smith was interim co-CIO, director of investment grade fixed income.
More information could not immediately be learned on their new roles or when the interim titles were removed.
The state retirement system had been without a permanent CIO since Kevin SigRist resigned in 2017.
