Matthew Albano has been promoted to chief risk officer of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, the $129.6 billion pension system announced Tuesday.
Mr. Albano, a nine-year employee, had been the system's risk officer since August 2021, when the former chief risk officer Laura Hotaling left for another job. She is a portfolio manager for MLC Asset Management. The pension system also announced the promotion of Beth Dellea to chief customer officer. She was previously deputy chief customer officer. She succeeds Edward Renzy who recently retired after serving as chief customer officer for four years of his 20-year career at the pension system. Ms. Dellea joined the pension system in 1989.
Heidi Brennan, spokeswoman for the pensions system, wrote in an email that no decisions had been made on successors to Mr. Albano and to Ms. Dellea in their previous jobs.
