Greg Trujillo, acting executive director of the $18 billion New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association, Santa Fe, was selected by the board on Thursday to assume the role on a permanent basis.
Mr. Trujillo, who had been deputy executive director, took on the acting executive director position in February following the departure of former Wayne Propst. New Mexico PERA has not yet selected a new deputy executive director, said Christina Perea, outreach bureau chief in an email.
Now that a permanent executive director has been selected, New Mexico PERA officials will begin searches for a new CIO. Kristin Varela, deputy CIO, has been serving as interim CIO since the June 4 departure of former CIO Dominic Garcia, who left to join CBRE Investment Management as its first chief pension investment strategist.
