Dana Johns has been named head of private equity for the New Jersey Department of the Treasury's Division of Investment, according to a Tuesday release.
The Division of Investment handles investments for the New Jersey Pension Fund, Trenton, which had total assets of about $89.3 billion as of March 31, according to the fund's latest monthly investment report. The fund had a 12.04% allocation to private equity as of March 31, or about $10.75 billion in assets.
Ms. Johns is taking the position formerly held by Jared Speicher, who left the department in July 2022, said a spokeswoman by email.
As reported, since August 2022, Mr. Speicher has been director of North American private equity for MetLife Investment Management.
Ms. Johns was formerly a member of the private equity team at the $64.5 billion Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.
A spokesman for Maryland State Retirement and Pension System said by email they have not yet found a replacement for Ms Johns.
