Michael Graham, global head of private equity at Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, Toronto, will retire in early 2025.
Following his retirement, Graham will remain with the firm as a senior adviser, according to a news release.
Graham initially joined OMERS in 2004 as a vice president on the private equity team in Toronto, eventually ascending to the position of global head of private equity in early 2020.
Senior leadership responsibility of the private equity business will be divided at the strategy level and transition to Eric Haley and Michael Block, the release noted.
Haley’s title will change to head of private equity-buyout and he will lead the buyout strategy and teams.
Block will take on an expanded mandate, leading a new group that will be named private capital, and his title will now be head of private capital.
OMERS had a total of C$128.6 billion ($97 billion) in net assets as of Dec. 31, 2023, including approximately C$25.1 billion in net private equity investment asset exposure.
In calendar 2023, OMERS' private equity portfolio returned a net 3.9%.
During Graham’s tenure at the company, OMERS private equity business has jumped from C$1.5 billion to approximately C$25.1 billion in AUM.
