Zarina Halim was appointed chief retirement officer of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan, Kuala Lumpur, the pension fund for public officials in Malaysia, said a Jan. 5 statement.
The role is newly created, a spokesperson said. Zarina started in the position on Jan. 2.
She has been tasked with strengthening KWAP's sustainable retirement strategies by benchmarking the fund against top global pension funds and emulating their sustainability measures.
Zarina is also in charge of developing and implementing policies and strategies for the firm's retirement services, the statement said.
KWAP had 184.5 billion ringgit ($40.5 billion) in assets as of July 31.
Zarina joins KWAP from Hektar Asset Management, which managed 1.2 billion ringgit in assets as of March 31. She was part of the founding group since joining Hektar Group in 2002 and was most recently the chief corporate officer of Hektar AM.
She was also in charge of developing the sustainability agenda for the Hektar real estate investment trust. Hektar Group did not immediately respond to a query about her replacement.
