Jenny Buck was named chief investment officer at London CIV, effective in early March.
The fund is the investment pool for London-based local government pension schemes with combined assets of £51 billion ($64.3 billion) as of March 31.
"Given the government’s recent decision to redefine how LGPS pools across England and Wales work together with their partner funds, Jenny’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the London LGPS community," said Dean Bowden, CEO of London CIV, in the news release. "Her extensive experience will play a crucial role in our ability to work even closer together, increase efficiency, drive down costs and compound value for London’s LGPS members."
Buck replaces Aoifinn Devitt, who in July confirmed she would depart London CIV by the end of 2024 to pursue new opportunities.
Buck was CIO at Tesco Pension Investment, Cheshunt, England, the in-house manager for the Tesco Defined Benefit Pension Scheme. The £12.9 billion pension fund moved to an outsourced CIO arrangement with Schroders last year. She was part of the original leadership team and held several senior roles at Tesco, including head of property, head of private markets, and deputy CIO.
