Ian Brown joined LGPS Central, Wolverhampton, England, as head of private markets, a spokesman said.
The position at the local government pension scheme pool is new, and Mr. Brown started Wednesday.
Mr. Brown will lead the company's private equity and infrastructure and real estate teams. Assets under management could not immediately be learned.
"He has an abundance of experienced that will prove invaluable to our clients as they look to diversify their portfolios in the private markets asset space," CEO Mike Weston said in a news release. "Working in private markets requires a unique level of insight; Ian has worked extensively with most of the large private equity firms active in Europe and is a proven leader. He has had significant exposure to fund financing transactions for private equity, infrastructure, commercial real estate and direct lending funds."
LGPS Central's member LGPS pension funds have about £45 billion ($58.1 billion) in assets. LGPS Central has about £20 billion of assets under management and advice.
Its members are the pension funds of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire authorities.
Mr. Brown was head of Lloyds Bank's loan financing division.
