Mike Weston left his role as CEO of LGPS Central, Wolverhampton, England, after four years in the role, a spokesman confirmed.
John Burns, deputy CEO, chief operating and financial officer, will become interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor, the spokesman said. Mr. Burns' appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
LGPS Central is a pool of U.K. local authority pension funds, which have £55 billion ($69.5 billion) in combined assets.
"After a tremendous four years at LGPS Central, working with such a talented group of colleagues and partner funds, now is the time for my next chapter," Mr. Weston said in a LinkedIn post. Mr. Weston could not be reached for details on his future role.
Mr. Weston was CEO of Pensions Infrastructure Platform between 2014 and 2019, which helped to facilitate long-term investments into U.K. infrastructure by U.K. pension funds.
