Sriram Lakshminarayanan was named chief investment officer of the $43 billion Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System, Des Moines.
Mr. Lakshminarayanan, who is currently IPERS' chief risk officer, will take on the role on Jan. 7, confirmed spokeswoman Shawna Lode in an email.
He replaces Karl Koch, who retired from the pension fund on Dec. 30 after 14 years as CIO.
Mr. Lakshminarayanan joined the pension fund in 2014 as chief risk officer and had previously been director, portfolio management, at Mcube Investment Technologies.
Ms. Lode said a search for a new chief risk officer will begin soon.
