Peter Juhl Nielsen was named director, unlisted and private investments at Industriens Pension, Copenhagen, Denmark, a spokesman said.
Mr. Nielsen will start no later than May 1 and replace another director who is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities, the spokesman said. He declined to provide details about the executive who is leaving.
Responsible for investing 50 billion Danish kroner ($7.3 billion) in assets, Mr. Nielsen reports to Jan Ostergaard, head of private investments at the 189 billion kroner pension fund.
The unlisted asset classes make up about 30% of the pension fund's total portfolio that is invested in private equity, infrastructure, real estate and unlisted credit.
Mr. Nielsen was head of alternatives and private equity at Realdania, Copenhagen, a €2.9 billion ($3.1 billion) philanthropic fund that focuses on bettering Danish municipalities and businesses.
Mr. Ostergaard said in a news release that Mr. Nielsen is an experienced private equity and infrastructure investor with a strong track record.
