Illinois Teachers' Retirement System, Springfield, is searching for a recruitment firm to assist the board of trustees in searching for and hiring a new executive director, according to a news release.
The RFP is available on the Illinois Teachers website and responses are due by 2 p.m. on Sept. 23.
The $53.4 billion system said in the RFP that it "strongly encourages qualified minority-, female-, disabled- and veteran-owned firms to submit proposals."
According to the RFP, the board of trustees will select the executive recruitment firm at an Oct. 30 meeting.
The search for a new executive director follows the Aug. 3 resignation of Richard Ingram after he was placed on administrative leave by the board on July 31 "due to performance issues covered by his employment contract," an Aug. 6 TRS news release said.
System CIO R. Stanley Rupnik was named interim executive director by the board.
During an Aug. 28 board meeting conducted remotely, Devon Bruce, president of TRS' board, stressed to other trustees that "this will be a national, transparent, robust, best-practices search that every board member will be involved in. This will be one of the most significant tasks we will undertake as trustees."
