R. Stanley Rupnik was named executive director of the $62.2 billion Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System, Springfield, and will retain his current role as chief investment officer, a news release from the pension fund said Monday.
Mr. Rupnik has served as interim director since August 2020 when the former executive, Richard Ingram, resigned.
Korn Ferry conducted a national search for Mr. Ingram’s replacement, TRS Spokesman David Urbanek said in an email.
Previously, Mr. Rupnik served as executive director between 2009 and 2011.
“As a board, we feel very comfortable with the way Stan has managed this wonderful institution,” said Devon Bruce, president of the board of trustees, in the news release.
Mr. Rupnik said in the release: “I strongly believe in the staff we have at TRS. The last year has been extremely challenging for them in a number of ways. Their professionalism and dedication in the face of rapidly changing circumstances has been inspiring. They are the reason I decided to pursue this position on a permanent basis.”
