Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, is searching for its first chief diversity officer, Beth A. Spencer, spokeswoman for the $20.7 billion pension fund, said in an email.
The CDO will lead efforts to shape SURS' internal diversity and inclusion strategy, as well as strengthen the system's money manager and other contractor diversity and inclusion, a news release said Friday.
"SURS has a long-standing commitment to diversity both within our workforce and our emerging manager investment programs," Martin Noven, SURS' executive director, said in the news release. "The addition of a chief diversity officer will advance our efforts to create awareness and belonging amongst staff, develop important relationships with key leaders, communities and organizations, and build upon our existing money manager diversity program."
Executive search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates is assisting.
