Martin Noven resigned as executive director of the $21.2 billion State Universities Retirement System of Illinois, Champaign, on Feb. 18, a news release Friday said.
Mr. Noven joined SURS in November 2016, said Beth A. Spencer, the system's spokeswoman, in an email. Mr. Noven couldn't be reached to learn more about his future plans.
SURS board of trustees thanked Mr. Noven for "his accomplishments," in the release.
Suzanne Mayer, SURS' chief benefits officer, was named interim executive director until Mr. Noven's successor is named.
The system's board will begin the process of selecting a new executive director in the coming weeks, according to the release.
