Dipesh Mehta was named executive director and chief investment officer of the Illinois State Board of Investment, Chicago, according to a news release.
Mehta has been the board's deputy executive director since 2019, the news release said.
He replaces Johara Farhadieh, who resigned effective Oct. 2 and will become CIO of Wespath Benefits and Investments in the summer of 2024 after the retirement of current CIO David Zellner.
ISBI did not say who has filled the role on an interim basis since Farhadieh's departure.
Mehta originally joined ISBI in 2018 as its general counsel and chief compliance officer.
ISBI oversees the investment management of about $24 billion in combined assets of the Illinois State Employees' Retirement System, Illinois Judges' Retirement System and Illinois General Assembly Retirement System.
An ISBI spokesperson could not be immediately reached for further information.
