Michael Wissell was named chief investment officer of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, Toronto, effective Wednesday.
He replaces Jeff Wendling, the pension fund's current president and CEO who replaced the retiring Jim Keohane in that role in April 2020. Mr. Wendling has continued serving as CIO since then, a news release said.
Mr. Wissell was previously senior vice president, capital markets and total portfolio at HOOPP. HOOPP spokesman James Geuzebroek said the position remains vacant, and those who reported to him in that position continue to do so.
As of Dec. 31, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan had C$104 billion ($81.4 billion) in assets.
