Hawaii Employees' Retirement System, Honolulu, returned 5.83% for the fiscal year ended June 30, CIO Elizabeth T. Burton said in an email.
The $16.7 billion pension fund's return is 118 basis points above its policy benchmark return of 4.65%, Ms. Burton said. For the three, five and 10 years ended June 30, the pension fund returned an annualized 9.07%, 6.06% and 9.2%, respectively, above respective benchmark returns of 8.08%, 5.3% and 8.9%.
The pension fund returned 7.85% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2018.
Ms. Burton said the returns were a combination of gross and net returns. Asset class returns were not immediately available.
The pension fund's target allocation is 68% broad growth portfolios, 16% crisis risk offset and 8% each, principal protection and real return portfolios.
