Hackers stole $4.2 million from Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System, Oklahoma City, the $993 million pension fund announced on its website.
"Because of the ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further on the details," the announcement on OLERS' website said. "However, we are certain the stolen funds will be recovered."
The announcement added that "no pension benefits to members or beneficiaries have been impacted or put at risk," and that "all benefits will continue to be paid in a timely fashion."
The FBI is investigating.
Andrea Anderson, spokeswoman for the FBI’s Oklahoma City field office, declined to comment further “as this is an ongoing matter.”
