Anirudh Chowdhry was named investment officer at the $5.4 billion Fresno County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement Association.
As the new top investment official for the pension fund, Mr. Chowdhry will be responsible for working with its investment consultants in managing the pension fund's public and private investments, according to a Dec. 9 news release.
He replaces Douglas Kidd, who left the pension fund earlier this year. Mr. Chowdhry was previously an assistant manager at the $132 billion New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, he said in an email. NYSTRS spokeswoman Heidi Brennan said in an email Mr. Chowdhry focused on monitoring external fixed-income managers. He has been replaced, she said, but did not provide the name of his replacement.
