Derrick C. Dagnan was named chief investment officer at the Fort Worth (Texas) Employees' Retirement Fund, confirmed Benita Harper, executive director.
He replaces Joelle Mevi, who served as executive director and CIO until she left in December 2018.
Effective Oct. 1, Mr. Dagnan will work with Ms. Harper, the board and its investment committee to oversee the management of the $2.25 billion fund.
Organizational consulting firm Korn Ferry assisted in the search.
Mr. Dagnan is currently deputy CIO of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, Nashville. His responsibilities will be assumed internally while options for seeking a permanent replacement are yet to be determined, said Shelli King, spokeswoman for Tennessee state Treasurer David H. Lillard Jr., who oversees the $48.9 billion pension fund.
