Jack Ehnes, former CalSTRS CEO, was appointed the new chairman of the board of global index provider Wilshire Indexes, a subsidiary of Wilshire Advisors, said Max Leitenberger, spokesman for Wilshire Indexes, in an email.
The board had been chaired by representatives of private equity firms CC Capital Partners and Motive Partners, which had acquired Wilshire Associates in 2021.
Ehnes retired as chief executive officer of the California State Teachers' Retirement System, West Sacramento on June 30, 2021, after nearly 20 years at the helm of the $352.5 billion pension fund.
“His (Ehnes’) leadership record and deep understanding of the evolving priorities of asset owners will strengthen our ability to address the complex needs of our clients,” said Mark Makepeace, CEO of Wilshire Indexes and a member of the board, in a news release.
Ehnes in the same news release called joining Wilshire Indexes board as chairman “an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organization that is transforming how investors approach indexing and benchmarking.”
“ I look forward to helping drive Wilshire Indexes’ ambitious growth strategy while addressing the evolving challenges of today’s asset owners,” Ehnes said.
Wilshire Indexes' board, which operates independently of Wilshire Advisors, oversees and sets the strategy for Wilshire Indexes.
