Ellen Hung was named state investment officer of the Nebraska Investment Council, Lincoln.
She will replace Michael Walden-Newman, who will retire on Dec. 7 after nine years as the state's top investment official, according to an Oct. 23 news release
The state investment officer is the top investments position at the council.
Hung, who will take on her position on Dec. 3, is currently the deputy chief investment officer at the $23.3 billion Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign. SURS spokeswoman Beth A. Spencer could not be immediately reached for further information.
Before joining SURS as its deputy CIO in 2018, Hung was assistant CEO of the $4.1 billion Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement System.
The Nebraska Investment Council oversees $38.1 billion in state assets, including $15.9 billion in five defined benefit plans.
