Gianpiero "J.P." Balestrieri was named executive director of the District of Columbia Retirement Board.
He was previously managing partner and director at investment bank Corporate Finance Associates.
Mr. Balestrieri replaces Sheila Morgan-Johnson, who retired in March. He joined the board on Sept. 7, according to a Sept. 10 news release.
Betty Ann Kane, a former DCRB executive director, has been serving as interim executive director and will remain in the role through September to facilitate a transition, the news release said.
The board oversees a combined $11 billion in assets of the District of Columbia Police Officers and Fire Fighters' Retirement Fund and District of Columbia Teachers' Retirement Fund.
Mr. Balestrieri and Ms. Kane could not be immediately reached for further information.
