Pernille Jessen will join AP Pension, Copenhagen, as chief investment officer, effective Jan. 1.
The pension fund's previous CIO was Rasmus Cederholm, who left in August to join Danish money manager Formuepleje as CIO.
Jessen's task will be to continue the development of the pension fund's sustainability ambitions, as well as focusing on delivering competitive returns, according to a translation of a news release.
AP Pension had 170.1 billion Danish kroner ($24.4 billion) in assets as of Dec. 31, according to its latest annual report.
Jessen was co-CIO at AkademikerPension, Gentofte, Denmark. The pension fund has about $20 billion in assets.
Spokespersons could not immediately provide additional details.
