Anuj Girotra was named head of active fundamental equities and relationship investing for India at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Toronto.
The role, in CPPIB's Mumbai office, is new. The pension fund had more than C$10 billion ($5.1 billion) of investments in Indian real estate, infrastructure, public and private equities, co-investments and credit as of March 31; total assets were C$409.6 billion.
CPPIB's active fundamental equities and relationship investment programs focus on public equities, private investments in public equities and pre-initial public offering investment opportunities, an emailed statement from CPPIB said.
CPPIB "will be looking to hire additional professionals in the two programs" that Mr. Girotra will lead, the statement said.
Mr. Girotra joined CPPIB from Capital Group, where he was a global partner, heading the firm's private markets business, according to the statement.
A Capital Group spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
