Ron Baker, executive director of the $58.2 billion Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association, Denver, was terminated by the pension fund's board of trustees at a May 1 board meeting, a news release said.
Mr. Baker had been on leave from his position since March 8, and Amy C. McGarrity, the pension fund's chief investment officer and chief operating officer, has been serving as acting executive director since that time, according to the May 2 news release. Mr. Baker's termination date will be June 1, and he will be considered on leave until that date.
The news release did not disclose the reason for Mr. Baker's termination or the reason for his period of leave from the pension fund. He has been PERA's executive director since August 2018 after serving in an interim capacity since the December 2017 death of his predecessor Gregory W. Smith. Mr. Baker was previously PERA's chief administrative officer.
PERA spokesman Patrick von Keyserling referred questions to the news release.
