Chicago Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund placed manager of emerging managers Leading Edge Investment Advisors and active international small-cap equity manager William Blair on watch for performance reasons, and manager of emerging managers Attucks Asset Management on watch due to personnel turnover.
The $11.4 billion pension fund's board approved the actions recommended by investment consultant Callan at its April 20 meeting, recently released meeting minutes show.
As of Feb. 28, Leading Edge Investment Advisors oversaw a total of $127 million in nine emerging international equity manager portfolios, and William Blair managed $198 million in active international equities.
Antoinette Bing, senior vice president, marketing and client service at Leading Edge, could not be immediately reached for comment, and Tony Zimmer, spokesman at William Blair, declined to comment.
Also as of Feb. 28, Attucks Asset Management oversaw $236 million in 15 emerging equity and fixed income manager portfolios.
As of Feb. 28, the pension fund's actual allocations to domestic equities and global equities were 27.6%; both targets are 30.5%. As of that same date, the actual allocation to fixed income and cash was 22.1%; that target is 23%.
