Carlton W. Lenoir Sr. was named executive director of the $12.8 billion Chicago Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund, pension fund spokeswoman Michelle L. Holleman confirmed in an email.
Effective Aug. 2, he replaces Jeffery Blackwell, who became interim executive director in March after Mary Cavallaro retired in January. Ms. Cavallaro, who had been deputy executive director at the pension fund since 2017, was named interim executive director in October following the resignation of Executive Director Charles A. Burbridge.
Mr. Blackwell will continue serving as president of the pension fund's board of trustees.
Mr. Lenoir will report directly to the board.
Mr. Lenoir was chief benefits officer at the $62.2 billion Illinois Teachers' Retirement System, Springfield. TRS Spokesman David Urbanek declined to comment.
