Marc-Andre Blanchard was named executive vice president and head of CDPQ Global for the Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, Montreal.
In the newly created role, Mr. Blanchard will have direct responsibility for the C$340.1 billion ($253.4 billion) pension fund's three regional hubs outside Canada: Asia-Pacific, Europe and United States/Latin America.
He will join the pension fund Sept. 8, spokesman Serge Vallieres said Friday.
Mr. Blanchard, an attorney, is currently serving as ambassador and permanent representative of Canada to the United Nations, Mr. Vallieres said.
Anita George, currently executive vice president of strategic partnerships – growth markets, will take on the new title of deputy head of CDPQ supporting Mr. Blanchard's efforts.
