Irshaad Ahmad joined Canada Post, Ottawa, as vice president, pension fund and chief investment officer, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Mr. Ahmad replaced Michael Butera, who had held the role on an interim basis since April. Details on Mr. Butera's role were not available. He replaced Douglas Greaves, who retired from the postal service firm last year.
Mr. Ahmad establishes and oversees the execution of the vision, direction, priorities and investment plans of the investment team and pension fund for Canada Post. He is also a member of the investment advisory committee and pension advisory council.
The firm had C$27.6 billion ($21.1 billion) in defined benefit and C$71 million in defined contribution assets as of Dec. 31, 2019, the most recent annual report.
Mr. Ahmad was managing director and head of institutional Europe at Allianz Global Investors in London. He was not directly replaced, a spokeswoman said. Neil Brown took on his institutional responsibilities as head of U.K. distribution late last year, while Barbara Rupf Bee is responsible for distribution across Europe.
