Leandros Kalisperas, former chief investment officer at West Yorkshire Pension Fund, Bradford, England, is to become CIO at the British Business Bank.
WYPF is a regional local government pension scheme, and had £18 billion ($22.9 billion) in assets as of May 31.
The British Business Bank is a government-owned bank that specializes in helping businesses in the U.K. access financial support. Kalisperas' role is new and he will be based in the bank's headquarters in Sheffield.
A replacement for Kalisperas has been chosen at WYPF, but has not been publicly named, according to an update to the job posting on executive search firm Proventure Consulting's website.
Before joining WYPF, Kalisperas was head of portfolio solutions at investment managers Abrdn, and was responsible for asset allocation and ongoing portfolio management of mandates for institutional clients. Prior to that, Leandros spent six years at the £78 billion Universities Superannuation Scheme, London, supporting the development of the pension fund’s regulated in-house investment office in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis.
