Mark Lyon was promoted to deputy CIO at Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, Leeds, England, a spokeswoman confirmed.
It is a new position.
The pensions pool is made up of 11 U.K. local government pension funds with combined assets of about £60 billion ($73.1 billion).
The deputy CIO role has been created now as a result of the growth of the pool's investment team, both in terms of its size and breadth of capabilities, the spokeswoman said.
Mr. Lyon was head of internal management. The spokeswoman said there is no direct replacement, but Ian Sandiford has been promoted to head of investments, alternatives, supporting Mr. Lyon. Mr. Sandiford was senior portfolio manager.
Border to Coast is currently searching for a permanent CIO. John Harrison was appointed interim CIO, taking up the role in January to replace Daniel Booth, who left to establish a U.K.-based family office for a wealthy individual.
