Baltimore City Employees' Retirement System placed core real estate manager Barings on watch for the $125 million open-end portfolio it runs for the pension fund.
The $2.1 billion pension fund's board at its Dec. 15 meeting approved placing the manager on watch due to performance concerns, spokeswoman Aja Jackson said in an email.
Officials at Barings could not be immediately reached for comment.
As of Nov. 30, BCERS' actual allocation to core real estate was 13.6%; the target is 11%.
